In a sport judged on symmetry and size, the work uses these aspects of digital manipulation to create masses of flesh, adorned with fake tan and months of preparation, for minutes of fame and a hand full of applause. Working as a camera man at the IFBB British body building championships, I attached my iPhone with a zoom lens onto my static camera, set up on a tripod adjacent to the stage. This side glance shooting, composed frivolously as an after image of the premier camera, produces a batch of careless footage, then reworked under the guidelines of body building criteria, to create a carefully assessed, fine tuned visual spectacle.
